In operando cryo-STEM of pulse-induced charge density wave switching in TaS2

By combining in situ cryo TEM, 4D STEM, and electrical biasing, we studied the metal-insulator transition of 1T-TaS2, concomitant with the CDW phase change. We learned that the voltage-induced phase change is via Joule heating and CDW domain boundaries get pinned at defects. Led by Jamie Hart.
